Plunge San Diego

Originally built in 1925, the historic Plunge Pool, was at the time, the largest salt water pool in the world holding 355,000 gallons of water. The 60 foot by 175 foot pool was designed after the Spanish Renaissance-style buildings in Balboa Park built in 1915 and 1916. The pool was converted to fresh water in 1940, when it then became the largest heated pool in Southern California. Newly renovated, the aesthetics reflect floor to ceiling windows and a retractable roof, allowing swimmers to enjoy the warm San Diego weather all year long. The Plunge is located inside of Fit Mission Beach at Belmont Park, an ocean front family friendly amusement park. Open to the public with panoramic views, the Plunge welcomes swimmers of all ages.
