Moonlight Beach Surf Camps first opened in January of 2004 under the name Dawn Patrol Surf by local Encinitas surfer Brent Stephens. Being an avid surfer and an active member of the Encinitas community Brent recognized a demand for a more modern surf school that identified with the local youth and the local surf culture. He wanted to work with both visitors to the Encinitas area and local Encinitas families.
