Our Junior Lifeguard option serves participants ages 9 – 16. No experience necessary. We offer a two-week program that serves as an introductory level program, and a four-week program that goes more in depth in all areas. The four-week curriculum focuses on:

Safety Swim Test

In order to ensure that the participants are safe and ready for our course, all Junior Lifeguards must demonstrate moderate swimming and breath hold ability related to their age. See swim test dates and times tab for details. Preparation for the test is highly advised so the Junior Lifeguard feels comfortable with the test.

All first time 2019 Junior Lifeguards and all applicants who were Groms in 2018 must pass the swim test according to their age group

** If the enrolling Junior Lifeguard was in a different Junior Lifeguard Program during the previous summer (not with Solana Beach) then we must see written proof of swim test with times equivalent to our times. **

We believe that a four-week curriculum is appropriate for the Junior Lifeguards to maximize the impact of their experience with us. Some may choose the two-week version as an introduction or due to summer conflicts. See the schedule below:
