STEAM Summer Camp
Enriching mind where creativity thrives……
We are offering multiple weeks summer education for gifted and talented youth programs that combine challenging academics with social, cultural, and recreational opportunities to nurture students’ social skill, as well as enhance their natural talents and abilities.

Summer programs are available in several areas including: STREAM (Science, Technology, Read & Writing, Engineering, Art, and Math), multi-languages, sports, and visual and performing arts.

CRIME BUSTERS (series 1)Campers will learn to become Crime Scene Investigators during actual crime scene setups! Campers will learn how law enforcement professionals solve crimes. Campers will learn how a crime is actually solved and learn how Biology, Chemistry, and Physics play a major role in the investigation! Some of the focuses will be on Fingerprinting, Fiber Analysis, Hair Analysis, and Handwriting Analysis.
Minecraft Game DesignStudents team up to customize their own Adventure Maps and shape their own gameplay experience. Students strategically tailor unique biomes that provide players with challenges and rewards, utilize Redstone to create secret passageways, traps, access points, build safe havens with resources that help players move successfully throughout the game, and install mods that allow Students to create very distinct qualities within their Minecraft game.
Acrylic & Water ColorStudents will have a blast painting with acrylics and watercolor. They will create paintings on canvas and watercolor paper and learn about color theory and different painting techniques. Students will also learn best studio practices, including how to choose and protect supplies. Your young artists will fill your home with unique and beautiful artwork by the end of this week.
Outdoor Sports (Group B)Outdoor sports camps take place in the Canyon Crest Academy fields. Activities include: Capture the Flag, Basketball,Soccer, Bocce Ball, Rugby, Yoga, Over the Line. Rotation Games: Park Ranger, Sharks and Minnows.

Computational Thinking without Coding (II)
Intro to Photography

Genetics: the science of us!Why do I have brown eyes when my Dad has blue eyes? Why is my hair wavy when my sister’s is straight? Students will learn the relationship between genotype and phenotype, conduct Punnet squares to investigate the heritability of various physical traits, and address what problems in DNA look like when they are physically expressed. We will model DNA in multiple ways (origami & marshmallows!) and dive into bioethics and the future of science.
Computational Thinking without Coding (II)We will teach Computer Science through games and puzzles with cards, string, crayons and lots of running around. These activities will introduce students to Computational Thinking through concepts such as binary numbers, algorithms and data compression. Importantly, no coding is needed.
Intro to PhotographyIn this class the students will be introduced to digital photography. They will learn basic skills such as composition, focus, exposure and styles. They will practice with assignment in portrait, landscape and events photography. They will also learn and exercise photo editing skills using Photoshop or similar image editing software.
