STEAM Summer Camp
Enriching mind where creativity thrives……
We are offering multiple weeks summer education for gifted and talented youth programs that combine challenging academics with social, cultural, and recreational opportunities to nurture students’ social skill, as well as enhance their natural talents and abilities.

Summer programs are available in several areas including: STREAM (Science, Technology, Read & Writing, Engineering, Art, and Math), multi-languages, sports, and visual and performing arts.
Morning Camp

Select one from the following:
Game on Scratch (Advanced)Students will use the Scratch program to create original computer games with focus on Mechanics, Game Play, User Control and Balanced Play. The types of games covered includes (a) Collection, (b) Maze, (c) Avoidance, etc. The games will incorporate scientific thought applied to theme such as fire, ocean and gravity. The class requires working knowledge of Scratch (no exception).
Biological Science: Under the MicroscopeStudents will learn scale and size and proper use of microscopes. Students will examine and compare one-celled and multi-cellular organisms. One of the topics will include cell structure, nutrient needs, and growth. Students will learn to appreciate the complexities of familiar things such as newsprint, fibers, or blades of grass. They develop laboratory skills including staining, and DNA extraction. They will also explore the various ways microscopes are used in the fields such as forensic science.
Photography WorkshopIn this class the students will be study digital photography. They will learn basic skills such as composition, focus, exposure and styles. They will practice with assignment in portrait, landscape and events photography. They will also have chance to edit their photos using Photoshop or similar image editing software to create a portfolio.
Outdoor Sports (Group B)Outdoor sports camps take place in the Canyon Crest Academy fields. Activities include: Capture the Flag, Basketball,Soccer, Bocce Ball, Rugby, Yoga, Over the Line. Rotation Games: Park Ranger, Sharks and Minnows.

Minecraft Game DesignStudents team up to customize their own Adventure Maps and shape their own gameplay experience. Students strategically tailor unique biomes that provide players with challenges and rewards, utilize Redstone to create secret passageways, traps, access points, build safe havens with resources that help players move successfully throughout the game, and install mods that allow Students to create very distinct qualities within their Minecraft game.
CRIME BUSTERS (series 2)Welcome detectives. In this course we are going to look at some of the same techniques that are used by the law enforcement to look at the physical evidence collected at a crime scene and taken from suspects. Some of the focuses will be on DNA Analysis, Metal Analysis, Liquid Analysis, Chromatography and Crime Scene Analysis!
3 Dimensional ArtOur artists will spend the week exploring a variety of 3-dimensional art methods and mediums. We will use paint, plastics, wood, clay, wire, and other materials to create a unique set of sculptures and art projects.
