Program: Scriptwriting
Day & Time: Mondays, 5:00 – 6:30 PM

Every great film, show, and play started with a single page. In this 16-week virtual course, you'll dive deep into the craft of screenwriting — learning structure, dialogue, character development, and how to shape a compelling story from concept to completed script.
Led by award-winning Hollywood writer Johanna Lack, each week brings writing prompts, peer feedback, and real-world industry insights. You'll explore multiple script formats — film, television, documentary, corporate video, public service announcements, and stage plays. You may even have the opportunity to write a promo script that gets produced and broadcasted on social media.
At the end of the semester, you'll share your work at our Winter Showcase, where actors will perform one of your scenes live on stage.
Whether you're a first-time writer or a storyteller looking to sharpen your craft, this class is your creative launchpad.
Program: Backstage Production
Day & Time: Wednesdays, 4:30 – 6:30 PM

Every stunning set, perfectly placed spotlight, and costume that transforms an actor — that's the magic of backstage production. And in this class, you're the one creating it.
This hands-on course gives students a real, behind-the-scenes look at live theater production. Led by our Creative Director, you'll get your hands on set construction, lighting design, costume creation, and prop making — then apply every skill to a live production that culminates in our Winter Showcase.
No experience necessary. Just bring your creativity and willingness to build something real.
Program: Filmmaking
Day & Time: Thursdays, 5:30 – 7:30 PM
Dates: September 3 – December 17, 2026
Where: JDS Studio, Temecula, CA
Every great filmmaker started exactly where you are right now — with a story, a camera, and the drive to create something real. This 16-week immersive course gives you the full picture, from writing your script to seeing your finished film on screen.
Led by award-winning independent filmmaker Pryde Pierce, this hands-on course covers every stage of production: cinematography, directing, screenwriting, editing, sound design, and the business of film. You'll work with professional equipment, collaborate with fellow creatives, and finish the semester with a film you wrote, directed, shot, and edited — screened live at our Winter Showcase premiere.
Whether you dream of film school, a career in media, or just want to tell your story — this course gives you the tools to make it happen.
Program: Musical Theater
Day & Time: Wednesday, 5:00 – 7:30 PM
Dates: September 2 – December 20, 2026
Where: JDS Studio, Temecula, CA
Musical theater isn't just about performing — it's about discovering what you're capable of. Each semester, our Musical Theater class takes students on an entirely new journey, blending vocal technique, movement, and acting into a full production experience.
Under the guidance of industry professionals, you'll strengthen your voice — whether you're a complete beginner or a seasoned performer. You'll learn to harmonize with small groups and ensembles, sight-read music, interpret emotion through song, and move with intention on stage. The semester culminates in a full, live performance at our Winter Showcase, where your work is celebrated by family, friends, and the community.
This is a class where every student has a place, every ability is welcome, and every voice matters.

Program: Acting Classes
Days & Times: Mondays, Tuesdays, 5:00-7:00 PM. Thursdays 7:00-9:00 PM

JDS Actors Studio is a professional acting studio founded by Master Acting Coach Scott Strand and supported alongside the creative leadership of Diane Strand, founder of JDS Creative Academy.
Together, Scott and Diane have helped launch over 100 acting careers while mentoring performers, speakers, entrepreneurs, creatives, and individuals looking to build confidence both on and off the stage.
At JDS Actors Studio, acting is about more than memorizing lines. It’s about learning how to trust yourself, communicate authentically, develop presence, and feel grounded in who you are.
Whether you dream of acting professionally, want support preparing for auditions, need help with public speaking, or simply want to become more confident in your everyday life — this studio was built for you.
