The contemporary jewelry exhibition, La Frontera, examines the complexity of the U.S.-Mexico border region as a physical reality, geopolitical construction, and influence on the formation of identity through the medium of jewelry. Within these concepts, many works highlight the day-to-day experiences of living on both sides of the border. Stories of pop culture, the ordinariness of daily border crossing, architecture, or domestic objects provide source materials for individuals to share their memories or the deeper history tied to a place or culture.
