Leaning on fossil fuels for our basic transportation needs is fundamentally altering the planet’s weather patterns, and innovation is required to bring personal transportation on a “greener” path in the new millennium. The future of solar, battery, and hybrid electric vehicles looks bright, with advances in battery technology and charging infrastructure making them more practical and accessible for consumers. Come see SDAM’s newest exhibit, Innovative Electrics, which explores the notable innovation surrounding battery and solar electric vehicles, such as the Lee Iacocca-designed1999 EV Global Electric Bike and the classic 2010 Tesla Roadster. Also on view is Team Vesco 444’s “Little Giant,” which broke the national EV speed record with 353 mph in 2021. Southern California companies Sondors and Spira are also rising to the challenge of an emissions-free future.
