Accredited Italian Classes for Teens 2026-2027

Pre-enrollment is open for the Italian School of San Diego's 2026-2027 accredited Italian classes for middle and high school students. The school is accredited by San Diego Unified and San Dieguito Union High School Districts as an Independent World Language School. Classes can fulfill language requirements for high school graduation at public high schools within these districts and can satisfy college admission requirements.
We offer two tracks. Some levels meet on a fixed in-person schedule; others have a flexible schedule arranged with the enrolled students (online or in-person).
Italian as a Foreign Language (for new learners), a conversation-first approach:
- Italian 5-6: Wednesdays, 4:00-6:00pm, in person, starting August 19, 2026.
- Italian 1-2, 3-4, and 7-8/AP Preparation: flexible schedule.
Italian for Italian Speakers (for heritage speakers), following the literature program taught in Italian high schools:
- Italian 1-2, 3-4, and 5-6: Thursdays, 4:15-6:15pm, in person, starting August 20, 2026.
- Italian 7-8/AP Preparation: flexible schedule.
Students with prior Italian study may test into a higher level. Pre-enroll by July 20, 2026. High school students should also notify their school counselor so credit can be properly recognized.
